Walk With Us – Honduras

Shannon Hopkins and his family left behind their “normal” lives and Shannon’s youth ministry position in order to serve and love the people of Honduras.

Shannon’s team shares Christ with Hondurans through a variety of mission and ministry activities. They have a farm, work at a radio station, teach at a Christian school, serve orphans, and help lead a church in Gracias, Honduras.

What will our team be doing?

Our students and leaders will lead a youth camp for the kids in the school. Your students will get to build relationships with Honduran students (who speak English) and will get to share the love of Jesus with them while helping run the youth camp. Our students will help lead recreation, bible study, worship, small groups, etc. We will also have roles for students in the administrative and logistical side of the camp.

Your students will love the kids, love the people, get to serve in a variety of ways, and learn how to live on mission as they serve alongside Shannon and his team.

Shannon invites you to come and walk with his family as they share the love of Jesus with the people of Honduras.

Safety

At iGo, safety is always a high priority and we take extensive measures to ensure the success of the students on our teams. From registering every student with the embassy, to giving all our leaders emergency training, we do everything in our power to minimize risk be prepared for any issue that might arise on the field.

Cost

The cost for this trip is $2700. This covers meals, lodging, airfare, training, in-country transportation, travel insurance, etc… everything but souvenirs. We provide all team members with a fundraising guide upon acceptance and other helpful resources.

Note: The trip cost is a little higher than we originally expected. Part of this is due to the plan to house them in a hotel in the city that is better suited for a group of this size. We also are still waiting on the airlines to give us a solid price for this group.

Supervision

Jami Lee Gainey is your Trip Coach (iGo staff member who will guide you through the entire process) for this team. She will be your main contact leading up to the trip. This team will also have several youth ministers and other adults traveling and serving alongside the students.

All iGo teams serve under the direct supervision of local church planters, missionaries, and other field staff.

Training

The first two days of your trip will be a stateside training program called Base Camp. The two primary focuses of Base Camp are:

  1. Spiritual Preparation: Teachings that will give you a biblical framework for missional living.
  2. Cross Cultural Training: Simulations and activities that will enable you to cross cultures effectively.

Application Process

To apply for this trip you simply need to complete the steps outlined below by the application deadline: October 1, 2019. Once you’ve completed your application you’ll receive instructions on how to acquire your reference. Each applicant must request a Reference from your Youth Pastor.
